The scam took place during 1999-2009. As a fine, the company will have to pay $ 40,5 million and $ 16 million as a loss compensation. The list of scammed clients, by the way, includes government offices. The company stated that a part of works were implemented by two similar firms, but in reality employees from Land Lease were involved into those projects.

Question by kristaliciouskiki: Why does the government spend so much money in Wyoming for the Mineral Leasing Act? I was reviewing the federal budget for 2006 and noticed a huge allocation to the state of Wyoming associated with the Mineral Leasing Act. The way I understand the act, the government leases out public land for drilling and mining. More than half the entire budget goes to Wyoming. Anybody have an idea why?
